5LOKO Bio

What’s harder than a Four Loko?

With ample free time and spirited creative energy, Este, Jesus, Raf, and Tyriq formed 5LOKO in the summer of 2020. The DIY band’s music is an amalgamation of influences, much like the diversity of their home base, Miami, Florida. The 5LOKO sound pioneers flo-pop, a child of alternative, pop, and rap music. The interchanging punchy raps and melodic vocals, accompanied by warm rhythm sections and drum patterns, seamlessly blend elements of these genres to create something you’ve never heard before, but feel connected to.

5LOKO released their first EP 2009 shortly after their formation. Their 2023 debut LP, New Beatles, engineered by Isaac Diskin, received widespread love for its innovative sound, including a shoutout from Anthony Fantano. They surprise released their sophomore album, i love how it sounds (as the sun sets) on New Year's Day in 2025. Last year, they independently organized and headlined The 5LOKO Show, a sold-out multi-act concert at Dear Eleanor in Miami, and made their festival debut at Big: Culture and Arts Festival in Gainesville, Florida.

In line with their art, 5LOKO is committed to action. The band holds dear a mission of pop pursuit without compromise. As artists in this day and age, it’s important to stand firm in self-expression, whether it be social, political, artistic, or cultural. This past July, 5LOKO hosted Miami Saves America, an all-day fundraising extravaganza supporting the Florida Immigrant Coalition, which raised more than $3k for immigrant justice in Florida.

Now, the band is gearing up to release their third album, Fredonia, from which their upcoming single “Couch” comes. Catch the magic of 5LOKO at their return to Big: Culture and Arts Festival on April 11th!
